Phull Bina Dali
By Srivats Vikal
Many consider Phull Bina Dali a hallmark in Dogri literature, particularly its prose literature. The theme of the novel portrays the social issue of widow remarriage. The situations described in the book are natural and not contrived – the story unfolding itself like the petals blossoming into a flower. Vikal’s resourceful use of Dogri language makes Phull Bina Dali one of the best novels in Dogri language and compares favourably with the works of fiction being written in other regional languages of the country. It received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1972.
